Delhi
Delhi suits a remote worker who wants South Delhi's café-and-coworking cluster at Indian prices and can time a stay for the cool, clearer months. The catch is the calendar: November and December smog and May and June heat make roughly a third of the year hard to work through.

A month in Delhi
INR (Indian rupee)₹20,000–40,000 ($225–455) for the verified lines only: a furnished Hauz Khas one-bed, a monthly hot desk in the same area and a 2GB-a-day SIM, converted at roughly ₹88 to the dollar; food, transport and a gym were not priced from an opened source in this pass and must be budgeted on top.
No fresh speed measurement could be opened for this pass, so treat speeds as unverified. What is verifiable is the mobile side: Airtel's ₹379 30-day plan and Jio's ₹349 28-day plan both give 2GB a day, and Airtel states unlimited 5G on plans of 2GB a day and up in coverage areas, subject to fair use (Cashify, 25 August 2026; Jio plan page, 1 September 2026). A Jio or Airtel prepaid SIM from a branded store is the card to buy on arrival; the documents a foreigner needs and eSIM availability were not confirmed from an opened source and should be checked at the counter.

Where nomads live
- Hauz Khas and Hauz Khas Village₹15,000–29,000 ($170–330) furnished one-bed, NoBroker asks, September 2026The coworking cluster, Blue Tokai and Spaced Out are all walkable; metro on the Magenta Line; premium blocks push to the top of the band.
- Jia Sarai and the Hauz Khas fringeFrom ₹5,000 ($57) semi-furnished one-bed, NoBroker, September 2026Student lanes beside IIT Delhi with the cheapest listings in the area; basic flats, noisy, but ten minutes from the cafés.
- Greater Kailash 1 and 2Not verified in this pass; expect above the Hauz Khas bandQuieter market-centred colonies with Getafix, Coffee Island and the ₹249 V Work Space day desk; good for anyone who wants a doorstep café rather than a scene.
- Shahpur JatNot verified in this passUrban village of studios and boutiques next to Hauz Khas, home to Spaced Out; cheaper and rougher-edged than the village next door.
The scene in South Delhi
Delhi's remote-work life is concentrated in a few square kilometres of South Delhi: Hauz Khas and its village, Shahpur Jat, Greater Kailash and Saket. CoSqrd lists 24 coworking spaces in Hauz Khas alone, with monthly hot desks between ₹4,499 and ₹9,999 in September 2026, and the specialty-coffee chains have outlets within walking distance.
Day passes are the flexible option and are cheap by any standard: ₹249 at V Work Space in Greater Kailash, ₹349 to ₹449 at Awfis, ₹600 at 91Springboard. The exception is WeWork at Aerocity, ₹1,000 a day and a long trip from where anyone actually lives.
How a month is spent
A furnished one-bed in Hauz Khas was asking ₹15,000 to ₹29,000 a month on NoBroker in September 2026, before a deposit of up to ₹30,000 and maintenance of up to ₹2,500. Bare student flats in Jia Sarai start at ₹5,000. Add a ₹4,499 to ₹9,999 desk and a ₹349 to ₹379 SIM, and the verified fixed lines come to ₹20,000 to ₹40,000 before food, transport and a gym, none of which could be priced from an opened source this month.
Cafés are cheaper than the desks for a working day: a Blue Tokai or Third Wave sitting runs ₹300 to ₹600, and the December 2025 Crown Devour guide reports two- to five-hour stays are tolerated. It also warns that wifi, charging and opening hours are outlet-specific and change, which matches the pattern of sockets being 'in some areas' at Cha Bar and Cafe Tesu.
Phones and paperwork
Mobile data is the easy part. Jio's ₹349 plan gives 2GB a day for 28 days with 5G; Airtel's ₹379 plan gives the same for 30 days and includes unlimited 5G in coverage areas. Both providers price a 1.5GB-a-day tier at ₹299 to ₹349.
What foreigners must present to buy a SIM, whether an eSIM can be bought before landing, and the fixed-line fibre prices in South Delhi were not confirmed from an opened page in this pass and are left out rather than guessed.
What the record says about timing
Recent reporting is dominated by the two extremes rather than by the lifestyle. AQI.IN's review of 2025 found no clean-air day all year, with November and December the worst; Stage IV curbs were enforced on 13 December 2025 with AQI above 600. The May 2026 heatwave produced the warmest May night in 14 years, and IMD's June 2026 report logged two more heatwave days at the end of the month.
The practical reading for a remote worker is to treat Delhi as a two-season base: arrive in February or March, or in October, and leave before the smog settles or the heat arrives.
Seasons
The working window is October to March, with a hole in the middle. In November 2025 Delhi's average AQI climbed from 362 to 430, the severe band, and Stage III of the Graded Response Action Plan was invoked; November PM2.5 averaged 220.7 micrograms per cubic metre, and on 13 December 2025 Stage IV was enforced with readings past 600. AQI.IN's year review recorded no good-air day in Delhi in 2025. Summer is the other wall: between 11 and 26 May 2026 afternoon highs passed 44°C on eleven days, peaking at 45.9°C on 19 May, when the overnight minimum of 36.4°C set a record; June 2026 had a mean maximum of 39.2°C and heatwave days on 28 and 29 June, per the India Meteorological Department. February, March and October are the months to book.
