The scene

Naples has a coworking layer rather than a coworking scene. The May 2026 directory lists twenty venues, led by Riot Studio on Via San Biagio dei Librai, Dialogue Place on Via Sapienza, the Foqus foundation in the Quartieri Spagnoli and re.work on Viale della Costituzione, plus two Regus floors. Most are small, weekday-only and shut by 7pm.

Work otherwise happens in cafés, and the old centre has the best of them: Settembrini, Spazio Nea and Cisterna Bistrot within a few minutes' walk of each other, with Caffetteria Partenopea holding Chiaia. The historic bars tolerate a laptop only in quiet hours; Gambrinus is for a coffee, not a day.

How people live here

The rent market still lists studios at €550–600 in Vomero, Chiaia and the Centro Storico in September 2026, and one-bed flats at €700–1,000 in the same districts. The city's average asking rent is about €16 per square metre a month, so a 40 m² flat should sit near €650 before bills.

A working day costs little: a €35 ANM monthly covers the metro, funiculars and buses, a bar espresso is €1.20–2, a café lunch €7–8 and a Dialogue Place desk €150 for the month or €15 for ten hours. That is why a modest month lands at €1,200–1,800 rather than the four-figure dollar totals the directories print.

Money and paperwork

A SIM needs a passport in an operator's shop and takes ten minutes; Iliad and Vodafone are the two worth the queue, at €8–15 for 150–200 GB, and TIM's counter fee of about €10 is the trap to avoid. Coworking prices at Dialogue Place include VAT, and its packages run on hours rather than days, which suits anyone splitting time between desk and café.

The corporate option is priced differently: Regus quotes €269–329 a month per person only on a 24-month contract, so the flexible independents are the realistic choice for a stay of one to three months.

What recent arrivals say

The nomad directory scores the city 3.11 out of 5 from 454 reviews, ranking it 534th, and calls it better suited to short visits. One review sums up the split verdict: a lot of potential and good weather, but chaotic, dirty and without traffic rules, with a recommendation to base in the villages along the bay instead.

Individual venues fare better than the city. A Tripadvisor reviewer working from Cisterna Bistrot found air conditioning, Ethernet and USB at the table and fast free wifi; a reviewer of Lavoratorio's coworking area in the western suburbs praised its fast internet and a welcoming manager. The pattern across the reports is consistent: pick the desk and the flat carefully and the city is cheap and workable; expect the street outside to be loud.

Seasons

September and October are the working months: highs of 15–20°C shading down from summer, humidity around 60 per cent and the beach crowds gone. June to August runs at 28–29°C with clear skies, fine for the coast but hard on a flat without air conditioning and on the cafés, whose sockets fill early. Winter is cooler at 12–15°C, damp at 78–80 per cent humidity and rainy, though rents and short lets are at their softest. Spring from March to May matches autumn for temperature and is the other window worth aiming for.
